As Halloween approaches the annual problem of illegal fireworks and bangers – which emit loud noises – has arrived in Cork.
Since 2006 it has been an offence to be in possession of bangers. Gardai say the explosive devices have the power to cause injuries, and disturb animals and residents.
The most common banger is described as a small red tube with a short fuse on top. It is lit by a match or a lighter.
