Cork City Council is continuing to pay 6-thousand euro a month to
store trees and plants which are part of the controversial sky-garden.
The award winning metal structure, designed by celebrity Gardener
Diarmuid Gavin will eventually be installed in an upgraded Fitzgeralds
Park, but meanwhile it’s in
storage at the old Show Grounds by the Marina
While Diarmiud Gavin was originally behind the structure he has since
moved onto other work,
and he is not associated with the current situation..
96FM’s Neil Prendeville managed to obtain pictures of the storage site at the
weekend and listeners have been commenting on Facebook that it looks
like scrap metal and is surrounded by pools of water.
Sinn Fein Councillor Chris O’Leary has been a vocal critic of the Sky
He says the 96FM pictures are remind taxpayers of what he calls “a
waste of public money from day one”
