Bus Eireann drivers strike will affect students warns UCCSU

Students who travel by public transport are worried about the Bus
Eireann Drivers strike

The NBRU, the largest union at the Bus Eireann has said an “all-out
strike” will go ahead from Sunday, it’s to protest cost cutting
measures at the company.

The Labour Court had recommended 5 million euro of reductions in
premium pay and overtime
and Bus Éireann says the savings are necessary because the company lost 6
million euro last year alone.

But.. It’s now exam season in Colleges and Universities across the country.
President of UCC Students Union Eoghan Healy says the bus strike comes at the
worst possible time because students are already under pressure
