Drought is becoming a serious problem for farmers as the heatwave
has brought grass growth to a “virtual standstill” on dry farms

Some farmers have been forced to install temporary water troughs,
and streams have gone dry.

Others have been forced to break into their valuable winter fodder
reserves to feed cattle.

Fine Gael Cllr Tim Lombard is a Farmer in Minane Bridge
he explained the current problem to and also said
there have been several small gorse and grass fires recently
and people should be careful with how they dispose of cigarettes or matches
