Flood prevention works in Skibbereen are now scheduled to begin in the
Summer of 2014,
and should be completed by the Summer of 2016.

But, the Mayor of Skibbereen says there have been “too many delays”.

Mayor and Cllr Adrian Healy was speaking at todays County Council meeting
where he asked the County Manager and Engineer for an updated timetable.

Skibbereen flooded again last week on Thursday night into Friday morning
following several hours of torrential rain combined with high tides. 25
premises were flooded, including 2 businesses which were seriously damaged.

The Skibbereen Mayor hopes the County Council will meet the new timetable
for flood prevention works
