[Extended Audio] Washington Street cycle lane saga continues

A POSSIBLE solution to the Washington Street Traffic situation has been
reached.

Like many other Streets cycle lanes were installed late last year, but in
doing so a lane of traffic was lost and congestion increased

Also a nighttime taxi rank was removed, and a plinth of concrete was built
to seperate lanes but it has been hit by cars and tripper over by
pedestrians.

Taxi Drivers, Gardai, Business owners, and a majority of Councillors agree
that the new road layout is NOT working, but little has changed “on the
ground”.

Yesterday a representative from the National Transport Authority – which
paid for the changes – travelled to meet the roads committee in City Hall

Last week we spoke with Paul Montgomery Proprietor of “Reardens Bar”. He wants the Taxi Rank to be restored on Washington Street, and the concrete plinth to be removed completely
