The construction of a new prison on the Rathmore Road remains controversial.
Cork City Councillors have agreed to install a sound/vibration monitoring system in Council homes near the construction site.
They want to make sure that vibrations from machinery do not cause cracks or subsidence to other buildings.
The new €35 million Prison is being built next to the existing facility.
The City Council have already written to the Irish Prison Service expressing concern.
Local Sinn Fein Cllr Thomas Gould said one woman had to move out of her home because of the rock-breaking work
