Cork Cllrs wants clarity on Water Charges

The Taoiseach says that the public will be told how much water charges
will be before the elections of May 23rd.

It’s expected the average household will pay around 250 euro a year.

However…. Here in Cork a number of County Councillors are calling on
the Government to outline the charges this week.

At Monday’s County Council meeting there was a lengthy debate where
canvassing Councillors said uncertainty about Water charges is a “key
issue” on the doorsteps

Fianna Fail Cllr Aindreas Moynihan from Ballymakeera says there is
concern that residents MIGHT have to pay a “standing charge” even
where they have their private own wells, are are not on a mains
connection. He says pricing details need to be released quickly


Fine Gael Cllr John O’Sullivan is Chairman of a “Private Group Water
Scheme” in Courtmacsherry, West Cork. He says one benefit of water
metering will be that it will make leaks easier to locate
