Eight people have put their names forward to become the “Community Mayor of
The Current statutory “Town Council” will be abolished – along with all
others in Ireland – on June 1st – as part of local government reform,
but Clonakiltys local Dúchas Heritage Group want to maintain the history of
having a Mayor, so they organised their own election.
