[Audio] Freedom of Cork City Ceremony too expensive says Fianna Fail Cllr

It’s emerged that the cost of the awarding the annual “Freedom of
Cork City” is around 30 thousand euro.

It’s the higest honour the City can bestow and recipients are chosen by the
Lord Mayor of the year.

The 2014 “Freedom of the City” title was given to President Michael
D Higgins last month.

Fianna Fail chose NOT to award the title during their Mayorship
in 2011-2012 under Cllr Terry Shannon.

The cost of the ceremony ranges from 23 to 31 thousand euro a year. It was
revealed after Fianna Fail Cllr Kenneth O’Flynn asked the City
Manager a question.
