[Audio] Govt gives Cork money for potholes

The condition of many Roads in Co Cork should improve by the end of the
year.

The Department of Transport have announced how a 43 million euro boost in
funding is to be spread across the 26 Counties.

In Cork…

On National roads there is:

750 thousand euro to re-surface the main Cork to Kerry Road, the N22 in
Macroom town.
and 75 thousand for the N71 Goggins Hill Drainage Improvement Scheme, which
will stop frequent flooding on the road surface

Moving on to Regional and Local roads there is:

1-point-57 million euro for Cork covering 45 schemes, improving road
surfaces on 25-thousand kilometres.

Various County Councillors have been raising the issue of poor roads at
meetings for some time,
including Fine Gael Cllr Tim Lombard, who has welcomed today’s news
