Tributes have been paid to a former Fianna Fail Cork politician.
78 year old Denis Lyons passed away peacefully yesterday (Monday) after a short illness.
Living in Coolflugh, Tower, near Blarney Mr Lyons had a long political career.
Serving as a County Councillor from1974, TD from 1981 to 1992.
He was also Minister of State for the Marine, Minister of State for Tourism
and Transport for a time.
Mr Lyons is lying in repose at his residence today (Tuesday) from 6-8pm, with rosary at 8pm.
Reposing on Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm, followed by Prayer Service at 8pm.
Requiem Mass will be on Thursday at 12 noon in St. Senan’s Church, Cloghroe,
followed by burial in All Saints’ Cemetery, Garrycloyne.
The current Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork City is also from Fianna Fail.
