Reports today from informed sources suggest that the likelihood of Cork’s
event centre being built on the old Beamish Brewery site on South Main
Street are one step closer.
Backers of that site – Heineken Ireland and Bam contactors – were the only
group to submit a tender seeking 16 million euro of a public kick start
fund, but it was feared by many that their tender might not have been valid
because it might have lacked commitment from a day-to-day facility operator
to run the venue.
But today new information has come to light that an operator is on board,
meaning works could begin before the end of the year
