[Audio] Youghal company Boatwarden tackles boat thefts

22nd July 2014
By Elaine Murphy

An East Cork Technology company that specialises in boat security is
reporting strong sales of an anti-theft device designed and assembled
in Youghal.

It follows the thefts in recent months of a number of boat engines
from across the Country, and an increasing awareness of the need for
security on the water.

In the past fortnight an outboard engine worth 4-thousand euro was
stolen from Carrick-on-Suir River Rescue, in Co Tipperary
last month a 100-horsepower outboard was taken from a boat yard in
Skibbereen, and in May engines worth 25-thousand euro were stolen from
the Irish Olympic Rowing HQ in Ovens

Cork Reporter David O’Sullivan has more on the Cork device designed to
reduce theft.
