There have been positive developments in Castetownbere, West Cork
where the Berehaven Credit Union was forced to close last week following a
high court order appointing a liquidator.
The Central Bank have today confirmed that cheques are being sent to
depositors returning their savings, thanks to the State Guarantee Scheme.
Meanwhile it’s understood that Castletownbere might see a seperate credit
union opening it’s doors there next week, as another established
instutution in a nearby Town is interested in opening a sub-office
A petition supporting that is now being passed around Beara, and will have
at least 2-thousand signatures after the weekend.
