Many residents of the Glen are frustrated that the Irish Prison Service are
not listening to their concerns about a new prison.

Talks broke down in April, and the two sides are now in dialogue again.

Residents are concerned about overshadowing from high walls, vibrations,
noise and dust during construction, questions about security of the
building site.
and now the contractors want to extend working hours.

The majority of residents near the Rathmore Road construction site live in
social housing,
are they now seeking a meeting with their landlord which is Cork City
Council’s Housing Department.

Sinn Fein Cllr Thomas Gould is critical of the Irish Prison Service for not
engaging with locals
