The Cobh Says No campaign is tonight (Thursday) holding a
demonstration outside Cobh Garda station at 6.30pm in solidarity with
those who have been arrested this week in relation to the Jobstown
protest in Dublin three months ago, and in the defence of the right
The Cobh group said that the arrests, totalling 17 people so far and
including a number of teenagers, were calculated to intimidate
opponents of the water charges at a key period as the government
desperately tries to salvage the already discredited Irish Water
Cobh Says No said the actions of the gardai in Jobstown were an attack
on the rights to protest of all citizens.
Tonight’s protest will assemble outside Cobh Garda station at 6.30pm
and will include a march to Casement Square in the town centre.
Simultaneous protests will be held at Anglesea Street in Cork city and
at Midleton garda station and organised by local campaigns in the
