Thousands are expected to attend tomorrow’s We Won’t Pay anti-water charges demonstration in Cork city as bills begin to drop and the mood for a non-payment boycott appears to harden across the country.
Tomorrow’s demonstration will assemble at the City Library in the Grand Parade at 2pm, will march down Patrick’s Street and will finish up near the Opera House. The march will be addressed by Anti Austerity Alliance TD Joe Higgins. A meeting will be held afterwards in the Metropole Hotel aimed at getting people organised to bring the boycott message into every community.
March organiser Cork City Cllr Mick Barry said this morning: “Hundreds of thousands marched against the water charge but the Government refused to listen and refused to abolish it. Now the charge must be defeated by organised mass non-payment. Tomorrow’s march is a rallying point for a mass boycott in the city and county and all members of the public are invited to attend.”Follow TheCork.ie (The Online Newspaper for Cork, Ireland) on social media
