Cork County Cllr Michael Creed has today (Monday) welcomed the confirmation that the OPW have allocated €22,500 to Cork County Council to undertake minor flood relief works in Ballingeary. Commenting on the allocation Cllr Creed said:
“I warmly welcome this much needed funding for flood relief works for Ballingeary. Ballingeary village has suffered immense hardship due to flooding incidents in recent years. Previous minor relief schemes have proved successful in alleviating some of the problems and I am confident that these supplementary works will further improve the situation.
“The funding will see the removal of trees and shrubs from Inchinossig Bridge to the GAA pitch on the Bunsheelin river and in an area known as the Ford. I will continue to work with Council officials to ensure that this work is carried out at the earliest possible date.
