From Monday 16th – Friday 20th May, Cobh based, Don Ryan and Co. Solicitors will host ‘Make Your Will Week’ in aid of the Mercy Cancer Appeal.
The public are invited to make an appointment to make, or update, their Will free of charge, and are asked instead to make a donation which will go directly to the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s fund for The Mercy Cancer CARE Centre, The Regional Centre for Gastroenterology, and Genetics Testing and Cancer Research.
Speaking about how funds raised will be used, Micheál Sheridan, CEO at the Mercy Hospital Foundation said “With one in three of us expected to have cancer at some point in our lives, it is likely we, or someone close to us, will have the experience of sitting in a consultation room and being given devastating news. At The Mercy, we want to make sure that news is told in the most supportive way possible, and so we are building a specialised Cancer CARE Centre next to the Hospital that will provide a dedicated, specialised place for people who are dealing with cancer.”
Speaking ahead of ‘Make Your Will Week’, Don Ryan, founder of Don Ryan and Co. Solicitors, said “Not having a Will can have serious consequences for your family after you are gone – we want to help you avoid that. From May 16th to 20th we will offer Will consultations free of charge to give people the opportunity to make a Will, or update an existing one. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer at some point, so all we are asking is that those who make an appointment with us for next week, instead make a donation to the Mercy Cancer Appeal.”
Julie Harris, Head of Fundraising and Communications at the Mercy Hospital Foundation added
“Our mission is to inspire people to support advancements in research, diagnosis, treatments and care of patients at The Mercy University Hospital, the People’s Hospital. We promise to do our very best to provide you with a world class hospital, right on your doorstep, and this is only possible through the help of our supporters and donors, like Don Ryan and his experienced team at Don Ryan and Co. Solicitors in Cobh.”
