The National Learning Network, Cork are now advertising a vacancy for ‘Vocational Training Upholstery Instructor’ at their Hollyhill centre.

The National Learning Network is part of the Rehab Group (the other parts being RehabCare, and Rehab Enterprises)

Job Purpose

The Vocational Training Instructor is responsible for the training and development of Learners in accordance with the agreed local training programme specifications, together with the day-to-day running and maintenance of all aspects of the training programmes The Instructor assists Learners with additional support needs in exploring their future career and educational direction and in making realistic vocational choices with a view to progressing to further education/employment.

Minimum Education & Skills required

  • Relevant qualification in Upholstery or related field desirable
  • A relevant training qualification – Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 desirable; upskilling to this level can be provided by Rehab Learning if needed
  • A number of years’ experience in the Upholstery sector
  • Experience in City & Guilds certification and accreditation processes desirable
  • Industry experience in the Upholstery (or related) sector
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills together with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills Experience in working on own initiative with a professional and confident approach An ability to motivate learners and to maintain networks with stakeholders and local communities
  • The Instructor will take part in all aspects of co-ordination and facilitation in respect of National Learning Network at its Hollyhill-based centre delivering City & Guilds Upholstery Skills

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, with responsibility for the instruction of a number of modules for City & Guilds Level 1 & 2 Upholstery Skill
  • Facilitate participants in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to secure progression outcomes
  • Meet key performance indicators in relation to learner placement and progression and achievement of certification targets
  • Apply all standards and procedures relating to Health and Safety
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of activities of National Learning Network and actively participate in and promote a culture of excellence throughout all National Learning Network activities

Additional requirements

  • Desirable: knowledge of Irish Sign Language
  • Knowledge in the following areas desirable: Design schemes in furnishings, Health & Safety within furniture making/upholstery environments, Matching and cutting materials in upholstery and soft furnishing
