Cork brewed Murphy’s Stout to feature in RTE Cooking programme

The award-winning chef Neven Maguire is launching his third TV series of ‘Home Chef’. The first programme of the series, being broadcast tomorrow night, features Murphy’s Irish Stout, which uses only Irish barley. Despite owning a restaurant with its own bar, the show see’s Neven pull his first ever pint in the Kiln bar at the Cork brewery and Neven meet with Peter Murphy, Marketing Manager of Murphy’s Brewery.

‘Home Chef’ series three, will see Neven visiting the people and companies behind some of Ireland’s most popular food brands including, Myrtle Allen, founder of Ballymaloe; Patrick Bewley, grandson of the man who founded Bewleys Cafe in 1937; John Dunne, chief cheese taster at Kilmeaden’s in Kilkenny; Denis Daly, the chief blender of Barry’s Tea in Cork and ‘Mr. Tayto’ Ray Coyle at Tayto Park in Meath.

“There is one thought that continually struck me when I travelled around Ireland to film this new series – there has never been a better time to be a chef in Ireland” said Maguire.

“As well as supporting local producers, the starting point for any good meal is great ingredients and the quality of our produce and pride in our food traditions is second to none. As people become more aware of what they are eating and where it is from, we are so lucky that we have the best fish, meat, game and grain and our dairy produce is among the world’s finest. This has been a great series to highlight the extraordinary work of Ireland’s food businesses, many passing through generations, and all focussed on providing the best Irish produce.”
