By Bryan T. Smyth

Whats happening?

The Cork Branch of the Samaritans dealt with more than 67,000 contacts last year, 2015, spread across phone, text, email and walk-in clients. The important free service is the only Samaratians branch, beyond Dublin, that operates 24/7/365.

If you would like to be a Good Samaritan then you are welcome to attend a recruitment evening for volunteers next week.

When and where?

Cork Samaritans Centre, 7-8 Coach Street, Cork City Centre, next Monday (18 January) at 7pm.

The Samaritans welcome and value every volunteer from all walks of life.. You just need a natural ability to listen and remain open minded.

What else does Cork Samaratians do?

In addition to listening to callers the service is also engaged in:

  • Outreach programmes
  • Providing a prison support service for Cork Prison
