News in brief
The Rubicon Centre, which celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year, has been part of the Cork ecosystem supporting entrepreneurs since 2006. Cork Institute of Technology has been supporting entrepreneurs in the region since 1998 through its entrepreneurship development programmes.
Since 2012 more than 60 entrepreneurs have completed phase 2 of the prestigious New Frontiers programme. Of these fledgling companies, sixteen have qualified for competitive start funding from Enterprise Ireland, 35 have been grant aided by their Local Enterprise Office and almost 120 jobs have been created to date. In just 5 years these companies have raised over Û6.5 million in public and private investment, with this year’s fourteen expected to follow in their predecessors footsteps and create further employment for the region.
