Fastnet Film Festival, is an internationally recognised, independent film festival and registered charity based in Schull, West Cork.
For almost two decades, Fastnet has built its reputation by being deliberately different. Above all, it is a celebration of film, filmmaking and filmmakers, rooted in the community of Schull and supported by an exceptional network of volunteers. The Festival is known for its direct, informal engagement between filmmakers, audiences, craftspeople and the wider film community.
Fastnet has no conventional cinema. During the Festival, the village itself becomes the venue, with pubs, shops, restaurants, halls and other spaces transformed into event locations. “Our Village Is Our Screen” expresses the character of the Festival.
Independence, informality, accessibility and the absence of commercial or red-carpet trappings are central to Fastnet’s identity.
We are now seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the Festival into its next chapter, building on its strong foundations while protecting the distinctive character, that make Fastnet unique.
