The Minister of State for Mental Health
says Radio Presenter John Murray deserves to be “congratulated”
for speaking so frankly about his depression.
49 year old Murray returned to his daily slot on RTE Radio 1 only yesterday
after a 6 month hiatus.

In the opening minutes of his programme he told listeners he had been battling
depression. He thanked those who had written to him, and he thanked
Miriam O’Callaghan for having stepped in to present his morning programme
during his absence.

Commenting on the situation… Minister of State for Mental Health Kathleen Lynch
says John Murray made the right decision to be open about his condition.
