Cork City FC v Salthill Devon preview

Cork City will be looking to bounce back from last week’s surprise defeat to Salthill Devon and end the season with a win, as they travel to take on Wexford Youths tomorrow night.

City have met Wexford on three occasions this season, once in the EA Sports Cup and twice in the League, and have emerged victorious on each occasion, and Dunne says his side will be looking to continue that form on Saturday: “Wexford have been tough opponents on each occasion that we have played them this season, but we have a good record against them and will be looking to continue this on Saturday. While we are now focussing on next season, we want to do things properly and end the season on a positive note and hope to do that by winning the game.”

The injury problems that dogged City on their previous away fixture against Finn Harps have largely disappeared, and Dunne received a further boost with defender Stephen Mulcahy returning to training this week, though he will not feature on Saturday. Captain Cillian Lordan continues to be troubled by a knee injury, but is expected to be available however Greg O’Halloran and Cathal Lordan will miss out through injury. Dunne also welcomes Neal Horgan back to the squad following his Gaelic Football commitments with St. Finbarr’s.
