The inaugural CIT Cork School of Music Day of Percussion will be held on the 13th of March, 2016 in the Stack Theatre, CIT Cork School of Music, Union Quay, Cork. The day will consist of masterclasses and a concert.
The Cork School of Music are delighted to feature new CSM Artist-in-residence Ash Soan, who will be giving a drumkit masterclass. Ash has recorded with Adele, Seal, Robbie Williams and many more. His discography includes an impressive 21 top 10 singles, 11 of which have reached number 1. Ash will be demonstrating the nuts and bolts of being a world class session drummer.
Organsiers have also lined up Dublin born Marney O’Sullivan flying in to give a timpani masterclass. Marney is principal timpanist with the Royal Northern Sinfonia in England, and has played with the London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras. His previous posts include jobs at the Hallé Orchestra and Opera North. Marney will be playing and explaining orchestral and operatic repertoire for timpani.
The day will begin with drumkit and percussion demonstrations from Stephen Kelly, Fionn O’Ceallachain and Tomas Gall, who lecture at the Cork School of Music, and the day will finish with a short concert featuring percussion teachers and students of the CSM.

1:30pm – 3pm Timpani Masterclass with Marney O’ Sullivan
3:15pm – 4:45pm Drumkit masterclass with CSM Artist-in-Residence Ash Soan
5pm – 5:45pm Concert featuring teachers and students of the CSM
