An article highlighting Cork features in the February edition of Wanderlust travel magazine, profiling this part of Ireland to some 34,000 readers – or potential British holidaymakers.
Tourism Ireland in London, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited Phoebe Smith, the editor of Wanderlust, to visit Cork last year. The resulting article appears in the latest edition of the popular magazine, saying that “for tasty food and scenery, you can’t beat the south-west corner of the Emerald Isle”. The piece also includes some great tips on where to stay, where to eat, as well as what to see and do on a three-day break.
“We are really pleased with this article on Cork in the latest edition of Wanderlust magazine”, said Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain. “It’s a really great way of highlighting Cork to a large audience of potential visitors, as we kick off our promotional programme for 2018 – helping us to spread the word about what a great place it is to visit and what makes a holiday in Cork so memorable. Publicity is an important element of our overall activity, helping to raise awareness through the British media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.
“Since the UK referendum on Brexit, Tourism Ireland has been closely monitoring developments in the British outbound travel market. As our nearest neighbour and our largest market for overseas tourism, Britain remains a priority for us; it delivers 47% of all overseas visitors and around 30% of all overseas tourism revenue. The depreciation of sterling against the euro since the referendum means that value for money will continue to be a key message for us in Britain this year. Throughout 2018, Tourism Ireland will work with our industry partners to highlight the ease of getting to Cork and the island of Ireland.”
