Cork City Council’s Annual Meeting will take place this evening at 6.30pm. The election of the new Lord Mayor of Cork takes place at the Annual Meeting. The existing Lord Mayor Cllr. Tony Fitzgerald will hand over the Lord Mayor’s Chain to the newly elected Lord Mayor during the meeting.
While most City Council meetings have only a handful in the public gallery; tonight’s annual meeting is always full. In recent years protestors have also used the event to highlight their various issues. Accordingly, access is limited to those who pre-register, and security will be present.
