Magical Ice Skating Experience this Christmas

One of Ireland’s longest-running winter events, Cork on Ice, is set to return for its 13th year this November at its new venue on the Live at the Marquee site on Centre Park Road for another exciting and magical festive period.

Opening its doors on Friday, November 22nd and running until January 26th 2020, Cork’s most loved ice skating experience will once again welcome the people of Cork and surroundings to its premier 800sqm ice rink which will this year return to one of its previous locations on Centre Park Road with plentiful free parking on site.

Established in 2007, Cork on Ice has welcomed well over 500,000 skaters of all ages and abilities and has become a Christmas tradition for so many families and groups of friends or colleagues. Creating over 35 jobs this year at its new venue on Centre Park Road, Cork on Ice will once again see many return staff joining the team for the festive period as well as a number of new vacancies being filled for the 2019/2020 period.

All levels of experience are catered for on the rink from beginners to advanced skaters with a large main rink and a separate smaller rink with experienced staff on hand. For those who would like to watch with their feet firmly on the ground, there will be plenty of warm festive treats on offer including the Summit Cafe with their delicious hot chocolate and coffee as well as Cork’s finest crepes from the Crepe Man.

Having brought Ireland’s largest Christmas Ice skating rink to Cork City in 2007, Bill Cremin, Managing Director of Cool Running Events now runs four Ice skating rinks across the country, welcoming over 200,000 skaters from November to January. Looking forward to their 13th year in Cork City where it all first began, Bill said “Since Cork on Ice was established in 2007 it has been a fantastic journey which has grown year on year. We are still welcoming so many familiar faces who began skating with us in 2007 which is amazing to see. Ice skating is such an enjoyable activity for the whole family whether you’re five or eighty and really gets everyone in the festive spirit. We have a great team working with us here in Cork, many who return year on year which really makes it extra special. We are delighted to be located this year even closer to the city centre in our new home on Centre Park Road. As it is just minutes from the city centre, it means that our customers can take in everything that the city has to offer – all within walking distance.”
