Susan Robbins Fehily’s Wildberry gluten-free bakery in Balineen, West Cork, was awarded the best-tasting Christmas product of 2019 for her Jewelled Christmas Cake at the recent Irish Quality Food & Drink Awards. This deliciously fruity, crumbly cake is made by hand, in the traditional manner, using only the very best local ingredients including Clonakilty free-range eggs, Bandon butter, no preservatives or additives and very little else that granny wouldn’t recognise!
It also looks stunning, with a necklace of preserved fruits and nuts on top instead of traditional icing.
At an RRPof €15 for an 800g cake, this would be a welcome gift in any home.
It is available in in Dunnes stores at the ABC Bread concession in Bishopscourt, Bandon Road, Cork.
The 800g [€15] and the 1600g [ €25] are also available at ABC in the English Market (which needs no address!)
