Applications are now open for 35 new homes in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, with rents at least 25% below the market average for the area. The homes have been delivered by Clúid, which is an Approved Housing Body (AHB).
Applications for 35 new Cost Rental one-, two- and three-bed apartments and duplexes in Ard na Sailí, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork open at 9am on Wednesday 7 October and will remain open for two weeks.
Interested applicants will be able to apply for one of the 35 brand new, A-rated apartments and duplexes. Rent for each of the ten one-bed apartments is €1,200 per month. Rent for the 16 two-bed apartments and duplexes is €1,500 per month and rent for the nine three-bed apartments is €1,714 per month. This represents a saving of at least 25% on the market rent for a similar home in the area. In addition to the low cost to run these brand-new homes, Cost Rental residents will also benefit from secure, life-long tenancies and high-quality, responsive management and maintenance.
Averil Power, Chief Executive Officer, Clúid, commented:
“At Clúid we’re well aware of the difficulties facing those trying to find a secure, good value home in the private rental sector. We’re therefore delighted to open applications for these high-quality one-, two- and three-bed homes. With rents at least 25% below the market rent, this is a great opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy a secure, long-term tenancy in a brand new, high-quality, mixed-tenure development, close to all the amenities of Carrigtwohill.
“We are expecting high demand for these homes, due to the high quality, excellent location and reduced rents. We’re urging interested applicants to familiarise themselves with the eligibility requirements and to complete their applications on www.cluid.ie as soon as possible. Applicants will need to submit all their documentation online before 5pm on Wednesday 21 October to be included in the lottery.”
The homes are set within the Ard na Sailí development, a modern mixed-tenure housing scheme, ideally situated within the village of Carrigtwohill. The homes are close to local shops, schools and essential services, with Carrigtwohill train station just a five-minute walk away and many commuter bus routes just an 8-minute walk away. Residents can also avail of the biodiverse landscaped parks, the greenway or the recreational areas within the development.
The homes were delivered in a partnership between Clúid and Cork County Council, with support from the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government, The Housing Agency and the Housing Finance Agency. The homes were developed by Lundubh Developments.
Applications are also open for six Cost Rental homes in The Grange, Maynooth, Co. Kildare, and will close on Wednesday 14 October. Those interested in renting one of the homes in Carrigtwohill or Maynooth can find more information and start the application process on www.cluid.ie.
Visitors to the Clúid website can also register to be notified about upcoming Cost Rental homes in their area.
What is Cost Rental Housing?
Cost Rental is a new, secure form of rental housing tenure in Ireland, designed for people whose income means they don’t qualify for social housing or other support, such as HAP, but who still struggle to rent on the open market. All Cost Rental homes have their rents set at a minimum level of 25% below the local market rents. The rents in Cost Rental homes are set to cover the cost of construction, maintenance, and operation of the development, ensuring long-term affordability for residents.
To be eligible to rent one of these new Cost Rental homes, applicants must be able to prove:
Their net household income is below €59,000 (€66,000 for homes in Dublin) per year
They are not receiving any social housing supports, such as HAP or Rent Supplement
They can afford the rent
They don’t own a property
The household is the correct size for the home
All members of the household are resident in Ireland at the time of application
