Book of Condolence opens for Berkeley victims

At 1.15pm today the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Chris O’Leary will open a Book of Condolence in The Atrium, City Hall for the friends and families of the students involved in the tragedy in Berkeley, California.

Speaking in advance Lord Mayor O’Leary said

“It was with great sadness and shock that we learned of the awful loss of young lives in Berkeley.

On behalf of the people of Cork I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives
or were injured in the tragic event in Berkeley, California.

Being a Sister City of San Francisco for almost thirty years, we are deeply upset by this tragedy and are thinking of all the Irish community currently residing in California at this time ”

 

 

The Book of  Condolence will  be available for signing  for 2 weeks during regular office hours.
