Cork City Council have issued a statement confirming that salting crews have been engaged in salting the roads of Cork City every night since the current cold spell began.

All the main traffic routes into the City are included in the salting routes. By day all available crews are salting problem areas within the City. Cork City Council has adequate stocks of salt to deal with the current cold spell. Salt is also made available and delivered to community groups to enable local communities deal with problem areas within their localities. If a community group wishes to request salt they should call 492 4189 or 492 4758 during office hours or email roads@corkcity.ie. The out of hours emergency telephone line is 4966512.

Cork City Council advises motorists to exercise extreme caution on all roads when driving in freezing conditions and to have due regard of road users and pedestrians.
