Food, flower arranging, farming, fashion, drones, music and lots of family fun are on the agenda for this year’s Cork Summer Show, taking place on 16 and 17 June 2018. Organised annually by the Munster Agricultural Society and supported by Cork County Council, Cork Summer Show 2018 promises to be a huge hit this year as the show has expanded it’s line up to include drone racing, flower demonstrations, bee-keeping, a fashion and catwalk tent and extended horticulture area for ‘grow your own’ enthusiasts.
“The Cork Summer Show has been running for over 200 years in Cork, yet every year we bring something new to the show to ensure that families and individuals coming along really experience the agricultural exhibits and animals while being entertained at the Showgrounds by everything else the show has to offer.
This year, we will have a ‘Taste Cork’ indoor food market, Tug-o-War championships, a ‘Grow Your Own’ horticulture tent, Petting Farms, Threshing, a huge Kids zone, live music all day long, drone racing and a fashion zone with live catwalk shows, prizes for best dressed and lots more. We are delighted to welcome the Association of Irish Floral Artists (AOIFA) who will be providing flower arranging classes and will have a number of floral competitions also. It really will be a great day out for everyone and we hope to see you there on 16 and 17 June.”
Speaking at the launch of Cork Summer Show, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Declan Hurley said, “The Cork Summer Show is a truly a celebration of Ireland’s heritage and agricultural background. From cattle breeding, horse shoeing, show jumping, poultry rearing to gardening, flower arranging and artisan food and craft beer, we are lucky to have such a special show in Cork each year, that shares the wonder of our countryside with those who in live in city suburbs and county. We are delighted to support this special show again in 2018.”
Free Park n’Ride services are available as Bus Eireann will be running services to and from Curraheen Showgrounds for Cork Summer Show. As the pet dog show is extremely popular each year, dogs are welcome on the site on a leash, and can enjoy the bus services too.
