Cork History roadshow seeks memorabilia

By David O’Sullivan

Historians from U-C-C and the “City and County Archives” will hold a
roadshow in Douglas on Saturday,
and they’re asking anyone with artifacts from the “War of Independence” and
“Civil War” to bring them along.

Experts will be on hand to assess the “historical value” of items,
and there’ll be exhibits and talks on that turbulent time in Irish history.

The event follows on from the success of the first roadshow in Clonakilty
last December.
That resulted in the discovery of the last known photographs of Michael
Collins,
taken just minutes before his death.

Anyone with documents or artifacts from the period 1912 to 1923 is asked to
visit roadshow
at Nemo Rangers GAA complex in Douglas Saturday from 11am to 3pm

UCC Historian Gabriel Doherty is one of the organisers
