One of our staff is a voice over artist so we – at TheCork.ie – tend to pay attention to adverts and we were recently pleased to hear an Irish accent on a UK advert. The product was the wonderful Kinder Bueno, and the advert was entitled ‘Adulting’. We all know what Kinder Bueno is, but what is ‘Adulting’? Urban Dictionary defines it as
Adulting (v): to do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as, a 9-5 job, a mortgage/rent, a car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown ups. Used in a sentence: Jane is adulting quite well today as she is on time for work promptly at 8am and appears well groomed.
Now that the definition is taken care of lets look at the actual advert.
The Kinder advert (above) features comedian and writer Sally O’Leary. She grew up in Fermoy, Co Cork before moving to London, where she attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).
She is part of a duo called Stiff and Kitsch – a musical comedy duo with Rhiannon Neads. At the time of writing their YouTube channel has only 21 subscribers (now 22!) and features many excellent videos.
