The 2017-2018 Macra calendar will officially get underway this week as the Seandun regional competitions kick off. This Friday September 8th the Seandun bowling final will take place at the Leisureplex in Cork City, kicking off at 9pm. Competitive teams from the different clubs in the region will consist of 3 girls and 3 boys who will aim to get the highest score for the opportunity to represent Seandun at the National Bowling Finals next month. However, the night will also serve as a social night where current and prospective Seandun Macra members are invited to part-take in non-competitive bowling teams. This bowling night at the start of the Macra year is always a great social and sporting occassion and all are welcome to come along! Following on from that the Seandun final of Question Time will take place on Sunday September 10th at The Huntsman Belgooly with sign-in from 8:20-8:40pm.
This weekend also sees officers from the Seandun region travel to Athlone for officer training which is run by Macra National Office and will prepaare individuals for their respective officer role within the region. Following officer training on the Saturday there will be a formal banquet where the National Leadership Awards will be presented. The Leadership Distinction Awards are presented each year to officers who have excelled in their role in their respective region or county and are presented in recognition of their work over the previous year. Seandun has five officers who were on the 2016-2017 Seandun committee who are in the running for Leadership Awards-best of luck to all making the journey to Athlone! We hope that all their hard work on behalf of the region over the last 12 months will be justly rewarded!
