On Friday, September 29th last Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jim Daly T.D., turned the sod at Westgate Foundation to officially launch a new building extension project which is scheduled to begin in mid-October.
Westgate Foundation CEO Julie Murphy stated that “this much needed new development will greatly enhance our Day Care client facilities and will also be of tremendous benefit to our dedicated team at the centre”.
Up to 40 people per day attend Westgate Foundation Day Care Service, which is part of an overall community based facility that provides an integrated range of services to meet the needs of older people including, Day Care, Sheltered Housing, Transport, Community Catering, Social Work, Social & Active Retirement Club, and Counselling
The total cost of the project will be in the region of €220,000, and we are grateful to the Department of Health for granting €50,000 towards the project in 2015, and to the HSE who have contributed €70,000 to date towards the project.
The organisation is hopeful that further funding can be found to meet the overall costs of this much needed project.
