Deputy O’Shea said “These figures highlight the critical role that Mallow General Hospital continues to play in providing timely and effective care for patients across North Cork and beyond. The consistent year-on-year increase in attendances demonstrates both the demand for and confidence in the Medical Assessment Unit.”
Deputy O’Shea added “The MAU helps to alleviate pressure on emergency departments in Cork City by offering patients rapid access to diagnostic and treatment services closer to home. Continued investment in facilities like this is essential to support our hospital network and to ensure people can receive high-quality care locally. I will continue to advocate for Mallow General Hospital to maintain and expand its services. I want to acknowledge the exceptional work of the hospital’s management and staff who continue to deliver outstanding care”.
Cllr. Tony O’Shea also welcomed the activity at the MAU by saying “Mallow General Hospital is a cornerstone of healthcare in our region. The Medical Assessment Unit has been a lifeline for many people in North Cork, offering fast access to care and reducing the need for long journeys to Cork city hospitals. These figures clearly show just how vital the MAU has become to our community.”
