Cork City Councillors have agreed to name a walkway to after a famous Cork sportsman.
Noel Cantwell was a Cricket and Soccer International: who played for Cork Athletic, West Ham, and Manchester United.
He passed away in 2005 aged 73.
A native of the Mardyke in Cork City Cantwell earned 36 caps with the Republic of Ireland.
The pedestrian walkway opposite the main gate of Fitzgerald’s Park will be named “The Noel Cantwell walk” in the coming weeks.
Fianna Fail Cllr Tom O’Driscoll proposed the motion at last nights City Council meeting
Independent Cllr Mick Finn previuosly came up with the idea of honouring Noel Cantell
He says a wide range of groups support the idea
